Josep i Pau is a project exclusive to the Seattle area, with the Seattle importer Vin2U working directly with the Rosell Mir family to create these special wines.
While increasingly available in certain areas, pét-nat is still quite unpredictable. So pleasantly surprised by this beauty, my notes literally consisted of “really yummy.” Bottled at 16g/s (grams/sugar) I was expecting this to literally be in the sweet category. The amazing thing about bottling during active fermentation is that it keeps going after locking on the cap! Seems as though the yeast have had quite the sugar-feast since disgorgement in 2020, because this wine is dry dry dry.
The Rosell Mir family has farmed this land 30 km south of Barcelona since the 1400s. By 1979 the 17th generation Josep Rosell decided 500 years of selling grapes to other people was enough, it was high time to bottle their own juice and slap a family label on it, and thus Rosell Mir was born.
