Tasting Notes
Our 2019 Old Vine is rich and powerful, yet thanks to the vines age and elevation, retains vibrancy and elegance. The wine opens with notes of plum, mocha, and vanilla. On the palate this Zinfandel has concentrated flavors of blueberry and baking spice, followed by soft tannins and a touch of pine and forest floor.

Vineyard Notes
The grapes for our Old Vine Zinfandel come from our oldest Zinfandel block, located at the upper end of our property. These vines, which are nearly 40 years old, are located in a long draw, that during the summer months is the first spot to cool down during the evening as cold air flows down the slopes of the Sierra. The result are grapes that enjoy a particularly long growing season, allowing for maximum expression and tannin development.

Winemaker Notes
The wine was fermented cool over a long period, never warming above 78 degrees. The resulting wine showcases vibrancy and elegance, while maintaining the structure and balance our Estate wines are known for. Following its extended fermentation, the wine was aged in 2nd fill 100% François Frères Burgundian barrels, for 24 months.
